Replaced Sony DCR-DVD 850 which I have used for more than 8 years or since they were first available. Like the exceptional wide lens and terrific zoom. The steady lens is a real surprise. Do not like the skimpy manual and help website. Elementary issues such as how to switch between internal memory and memory card are not addressed.
This is definitely Sony's best Handycam that checks all the right boxes. 4K, GREAT built in optical image stabilization!
This is the best video camera I've owned to date. The video is stunning. Even 4k when reduced to 1080 is far sharper and clearer than my best Sony HD camera. My only gripe is that the batteries do not last long (this camera sucks juice), and if the battery dies while recording, the video file is corrupted and unrecoverable. Watch your battery levels, or run off AC!
THIS CAMCORDER IS AN EASY TO USE HIGH TECH BARGAIN FOR ANYONE.
I have not given this camcorder a full test but my initial impression is favorable. This camcorder has better low light performance compared to the other cameras I am currently using (Canon HF-M500, Canon G20, Canon HF-M40). The image stabilization is far better than these other camcorders. The size and weight is greater but it's worth the tradeoff given the larger lens size and range of zoom. I find the hotshoe cover to be slightly annoying/in the way. Controls/ergonomics are otherwise good.
I love this video camera. Perfect for travel as it's just the right size. I carry it around in a Nikon lens case. Fits like it was made for it. Video and photo quality are better than I expected! Very sharp. Accurate colors.
I've had this camera for a few weeks now, I've used it for shooting a funrun, an airshow and a surfing event. I really like this camera. I mostly bought it for the stabilization, which is unbelievably amazing! The fact that it shoots 120fps is a bonus, useful for occasional stuff. It's small enough to fit in the pocket of my jacket, which means I can take my stills camera as well and can easily it grab if I see something I want. The images are making my old HVX 200 look soft and grainy, these are sharp, clean and maybe a little contrasty, but nothing a little post wont fix. The biggest pain is the photo button on top, which I keep hitting when zooming. Would be happy to recommend.
This is one hell of a machine. No smart phone comes close to this. The built in stabilizing system is awesome. The fact that you can dual record in 4K and in MP4 is great, allowing you to send the MP4 version videos to your phone and then share it on social media.
Este comentario lo har en espaol. Yo compr la cmara porque quera incursionar en el mundo del video, principalmente realizo fotografa con DSLR con mi mark iii , pero se muy poco de video. Revise crticas de esta y otras cmaras y decid por sta debido a sus atributos. La prob en San Francisco haciendo unas tomas normales usndola en modo automatico. Mi sorpresa al ver la calidad de video 4K en una televisin que no es 4K fue increble, se ve la nitidez y color de la grabacin de manera sorprendente. No hay duda en su calidad de imagen y estabilidad. Quiz es un poco pesada o grande, para cargar junto a mi mark iii y otro lente, pero creo q vale la pena. Lo que siento mucho fue no haberle comprado otra pila de repuesto. Estoy contento con la compra
I bought this camera simply because it is a Sony. When I got home I looked up reviews on it. One company listed it as its choice for the best video camera on the market. I love having a viewfinder which my cheaper camera does not have. Since I shoot a lot of videos in low light, this camera is perfect.
